New Turkish Residence Law
According to Anatolian News Agency, the rules for obtaining a Turkish tourist residence and its extension in 2020 have changed. The duration of the Turkish tourist residence will be one year from this year.
According to paragraph e, Article 1 of Law 6458/31 on Foreign Nationals and International Protection, from January 1, 2020, foreign nationals can receive tourist accommodation for one year. The law applies to all foreign nationals applying for a tourist permit in Turkey, except for citizens of OECD member states, the European Union, the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.
Under the new scheme, people who wish to extend their temporary residence as a tourist or tourist residence can return to the country for at least one year after the expiry of their tourist stay.
If you have applied for a residence permit before January 1, 2020, your application will be assessed as well, according to Turkish immigration authorities.
According to the law, citizens of the world, except those from the European Union, the People’s Republic of China and members of the Economic Development Cooperation Organization, may travel to Turkey after the expiry of their temporary residence permit, in accordance with existing regulations.
Foreigners, including Iranians, can spend 90 days in any country 180 days after the end of their tourist stay.
However, people who have migrated to the country through tourist accommodation can change their education to work or study or obtain permanent residence ownership.Turkey has long been one of the most popular destinations for Iranians for work, life and leisure. About 2,000 Iranians have traveled to the country in the first nine months of this year.
Some Iranians regularly travel between their home country and Turkey for commercial purposes.
Last year, the Turkish government changed some immigration laws that made it easier for foreigners to obtain citizenship, following a fall in the value of the lira and aimed at attracting foreign investment.
Prior to changing these laws, Turkish citizenship applicants had to buy homes worth at least $ 1 million, which, under the new rules, were reduced to a quarter of $ 6,000.

Neighboring citizenship with less capital than before, as well as the possibility of investing in foreign exchange by buying property were two important factors that led some Iranians to buy their home in Turkey, and Iranians bought property in the neighboring country.
The Turkish Statistical Center recently reported that in the first six months of this year (January to September), a total of non-Turkish households bought more than 6,000 homes in Turkey, of which more than 5 were Iranians.
During the same period last year (January to September 1), Iranian citizens bought about 3 houses in Turkey. New data show a good increase in Iranian property purchases in Turkey.
